CivilGrid is a seed-stage construction tech company building “Google Maps for the Underground”.  The platform accelerates construction project planning and design by centralizing worksite data and packaging it in powerful geospatial workflows. Civil engineers, construction companies, and real estate developers use CivilGrid to make critical project decisions, accelerating the pace of work execution, improving the quality of designs, and reducing risks to construction.  The Company’s platform is used by hundreds of civil engineers, and has streamlined planning and design activities on over 1500 construction projects to date.  CivilGrid is experiencing rapid growth and customer expansion with a startup culture where contributions are seen and felt across the team.

Summary of Position

CivilGrid is hiring a  strategic account executive to accelerate early sales traction and support formalizing our sales processes. Initially, your primary responsibility will be managing deals from demo through close and upsell. You will primarily be selling to civil engineering firms; although in the medium term, that may expand to include construction firms, developers, and other types of specialized engineering firms.

Deals may range from small through large enterprise. As such, you will be expected to know how to vary your tactics and adapt CivilGrid’s sales motion to fit the prospect. With large enterprise clients, you will be comfortable navigating broad networks of stakeholders, and complex purchasing processes. For new leads, you will work closely with an assigned business development rep (BDR) who will help generate new qualified opportunities for you.

In the medium term, you will partner closely with the CEO on refining and documenting the sales process. You’ll collaborate internally on sales strategy and messaging as we refine our ideal customer profile and positioning. Overall, your ability to learn, experiment, and iteratively improve will be critical, as we evolve the sales strategy, understand the customer, segment the market, and close deals.

This is an individual contributor role in the near-term. You will have significant leadership growth opportunities as CivilGrid succeeds and grows. Should you demonstrate the interest and skills, this includes building and leading the sales organization. Either way, as a key member of an early-stage startup, you will be an influential voice internally as the voice of the customer.

You have closed your fair share of deals and are a steady hand at the helm no matter how turbulent or complex the deal. You know when to trust the (sales) process, but you also listen for signals and continuously iterate. You’ll run through a wall to achieve your goals, but you can also gently knock on the right door. You’re a problem solver who knows how to evaluate scenarios, outcomes, and risks to make informed decisions and can articulate those efficiently.

Finally, you are excited about the process of building better cities. You are, or would like to be, a nerd about infrastructure, urban planning, gas & electric, water, etc., and every aspect of the built environment.
